Neuromuscular ReEducation
Neuromuscular ReEducation (NMR) is a form of bodywork that involves gentle compression, stretching, and rocking movements. The purpose is to relax the central nervous system, allowing it to release chronic holding patterns within the muscles. This affects the body deeply on a structural level, without deep tissue work. It is both relaxing and energizing.
NMR is appropriate for all age groups. It is safe for pregnant women. The aging population appreciate the gentle touch involved. Since this technique originated from observing the manner in which children are naturally inclined to move, children enjoy NMR more than Swedish Massage, especially when we use balloons as pillows! No pressure is used that may tickle young muscles.
NMR has proven to be effective for neurological disorders resulting from trauma or disease, such as: • Cerebral Palsy • Multiple Sclerosis • Muscular Distrophy • Oxygen Deprivation at Birth • Parkinson's Disease • Peripheral Sensory & Motor Inuries • Polio • Stroke
